How it all started
My dad originally took up gardening as a side job to bring in extra income. He was the full-time carer for my mum, who’s in a wheelchair, and benefits never quite stretched far enough. Sadly, after a cancer diagnosis, that chapter ended far too soon.
For me, the seed was planted.

From kitchens to gardens
Before all this, I worked as a chef for over 14 years. I even took a detour through music college — mostly for the social life, if I’m honest. I loved cooking, but never quite fit into the intense, top-down culture of professional kitchens.
When my younger brother had a serious overdose earlier this year, I knew I had to change everything. Being on call for hospital visits and supporting him through recovery wasn’t something my chef schedule could handle.
So I took a leap — and started this business.

Why I do this
Very Good Gardening gave me space to be present for my family while doing something creative and hands-on. The response was incredible: my schedule filled quickly, and word of mouth spread.
Now I’m a full-time gardener — and I approach each job with the same care and creativity I used to bring to a plate of food.
Whether I’m taming wild hedges, planting vibrant borders, or reviving tired lawns, I bring passion and purpose to every garden I touch.
Local roots
I offer garden maintenance, planting, tidy-ups, and full overhauls to clients in Glossop, Hadfield, New Mills, and the surrounding High Peak area.
Lets grow something beautiful
Gardening isn’t just a job for me. It’s been a way through hard times, and a way to bring peace back into my little corner of the world.
If you're ready to transform your outdoor space, I’d love to help.
